Hi,

My name is Rochelle Laird-Smith and I love SIPping (Stamps, Inks and Paper)!

I live in the small coastal village of Blind Bight which is on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria with my partner Adrian and daughter, Cassidy. We are a family of musicians - me being the least of the musicians although I do play the piano and love to sing! Adrian is a music teacher and Cassidy is in her final year of school planning to be a teacher.

Born in Sri Lanka to a middle-class family, I was always interested in pursuing art but this was not an affordable activity. So when I migrated to Australia as a teenager with my family, the world of crafting opened up to me. I was amazed at  what one could  create with so many supplies readily available.  My first introduction to papercrafting was the art of Paper Tole. I completed several projects over many years and this gave me some keen fussy cutting skills which has come in handy for cardmaking.

One day I saw an advertisement for Stampin' Up! in a magazine and set out to discover what this company was.   I'd never heard of Stampin' Up! before and didn't even know where I could buy these fabulous products where there were stamps that coordinated with punches and dies. Wow! The thought of having a product that cut out an image perfectly  got me excited (imagine all the time I'd save)! I had my eye on the Pennant Punch and stamp bundle - that was just the beginning!!!

In 2015 I began my journey with Stampin' Up.   I bought a couple of products and as I looked through the catalogue, realised there were just too many items that were on my Wish List. This Wish List was going to become a Shopping List so saving money was on my purchases was very appealing.  Buying a Starter Kit was the best decision I've made on this journey as it gave me so much value for money.  After that I kept getting a discount on ALL my purchases - bonus!!

Stampin' Up! provided me the opportunity to create artful projects without being an artist. Stamps provide beautiful images to build on to create my own little masterpiece - whether it be a card, scrapbook page or home decor piece.  Sometimes it's simple and other times it's elaborate but there's always SIP involved.

This started off as a hobby and quickly became something I wanted to do more with and share with others through classes. So while I do have a regular job working in a school, this is my second job and passion. It offers me flexibility and the opportunity to make wonderful friends.  Sharing this craft with others has been wonderful whether it be through teaching, spending time with members of my Gifted Stars team or sharing creative experiences with Stampin' Up! family around the world.

I hope to meet you some day along this fun journey.

Love,
Rochelle
